I am the George and Cynthia Mitchell Professor in Sustainable Development at the Department of Economics and a Center for Energy Studies Scholar at the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University. I conduct interdisciplinary research using mathematical modeling to guide science-based policy. My current work studies the economics of emerging infectious diseases, climate resilience and the energy transition, conservation policy, and applications of economics principles to ecology.
